MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are MRI Multipad Sanitary Covers used for?

MRI Multipad Sanitary Covers are single-use, disposable barriers designed to maintain hygiene and extend the life of MRI Multipads. They help prevent cross-contamination between patients, keeping both the positioning aids and the MRI environment clean. Each cover provides a soft, comfortable surface while protecting the underlying Multipad during scans.

Are the Multipad Sanitary Covers MR Safe for use inside the MRI room?

Yes. The Multipad Sanitary Covers are MR Safe, meaning they contain no metallic or conductive materials and present no known hazards in any MRI environment, including inside the bore. They’re safe to use on all MRI tables and coils without affecting image quality or introducing artifacts.

Which Multipad models are compatible with these sanitary covers?

These covers are designed specifically for MRI Med Multipad models PA-604, PA-605, PA-606, and PA-608. Each cover features a latex-free elastic edge that provides a snug fit, ensuring the pad stays fully protected throughout the scan. This compatibility makes it simple to integrate infection prevention into daily MRI workflows.

How do Multipad Sanitary Covers help with infection control in MRI facilities?

The covers create a clean barrier between the patient and the reusable Multipad, helping MRI staff follow infection prevention protocols with ease. Since they’re single-use and disposable, they eliminate the risk of pathogen transfer and reduce cleaning time between patients—ideal for high-volume MRI centers aiming to maintain strict hygiene standards.

How are the Multipad Sanitary Covers packaged and used?

Multipad Sanitary Covers are packaged in boxes of 100 for convenient use and inventory management. Simply stretch a new cover over the Multipad before positioning the patient, and discard it immediately after the scan. They require no assembly or special handling, making them an easy way to improve both sanitation and workflow efficiency in your MRI suite.
