MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Non-Magnetic Cylinder Cart MR Conditional for use in MRI environments?

Yes. The MRI Med Non-Magnetic Cylinder Cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, tested to meet ASTM F2503standards for MRI safety. It’s constructed entirely from non-ferromagnetic materials, allowing safe transport of D or E size gas cylinders in MRI Zones II–IV. The design ensures no magnetic attraction or interference near the scanner.

What cylinder sizes does this cart hold?

This cart is designed to securely hold D or E size medical gas cylinders, which are the most common oxygen and gas tanks used in MRI and anesthesia applications. Its frame and cradle are shaped to keep cylinders stable during transport, minimizing the risk of tipping or rolling within the suite.

What makes this cylinder cart MRI-safe to use near the magnet?

The cart’s frame, hardware, and wheels are made from non-ferromagnetic materials that will not react to the magnetic field. It’s equipped with 6-inch plastic wheels that glide smoothly across MRI room flooring without metal components that could be pulled toward the magnet. The adjustable handle (38”–44”) helps staff maintain control and ergonomic posture when moving tanks through the MRI suite.

Can this MRI cylinder cart stay in the MRI room during patient scanning?

Yes — as an MR Conditional product rated to 3 Tesla, the cart can safely remain in the scan room as long as it’s used under normal MRI operating conditions. Many facilities keep one or more in the room for quick oxygen access or during emergency procedures. Always confirm that any attached accessories (such as cylinder regulators) are also MR Conditional.

How is this non-magnetic cylinder cart shipped, and what are the return guidelines?

MRI Med typically ships stocked items within 48 business hours using UPS, FedEx, or freight services, depending on order volume. Each cart arrives fully assembled and ready for use. Because it’s classified as an MR Conditional medical product, returns are only accepted for unused items with prior approval, and damage or shortage claims must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.
