MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The Pediatric Medium Concentration Mask with Trumpet Connector and 7-foot Supply Tube is engineered for precise oxygen delivery in medical settings, particularly for use with MRI equipment. Designed specifically for pediatric patients, this mask ensures reliable respiratory support through medium oxygen concentration levels. Its soft, anatomically-shaped design prioritizes patient comfort, making it suitable for sustained use in clinical environments. The inclusion of a secure over-the-ear elastic strap further enhances stability during application, promoting an effective and seamless oxygen delivery process.

Additional features include a durable trumpet connector that guarantees a secure fit, alongside 3-channel crush-resistant tubing for uninterrupted airflow. Available with or without safety tubing for versatile usage, this single-use, latex-free product adheres to high medical standards. Packed with 50 pieces per case, this medium concentration mask is an essential component of high-quality MRI products for pediatric respiratory care.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this pediatric oxygen mask be used during MRI scans?

Yes. This pediatric medium concentration mask is made from non-metallic, non-conductive materials, allowing it to be used safely in MRI environments when connected to MR Conditional oxygen delivery systems. The 7-foot crush-resistant tubing provides flexibility for positioning patients comfortably without pulling or kinking, helping maintain consistent oxygen flow throughout imaging or sedation procedures.

2. What makes the trumpet connector helpful in MRI and pediatric use?

The trumpet connector creates a secure, push-fit seal that’s quick to attach and disconnect — an advantage when caring for children who move or need repositioning. It minimizes the risk of oxygen leaks and keeps the connection stable, even when tubing shifts during imaging. It’s a simple, durable option that works well with most hospital oxygen sources and fits neatly into MRI workflow without adding metal components.

3. How do facilities typically stock these masks for pediatric MRI care?

Because the mask is single-use and latex-free, many imaging departments keep a dedicated MRI supply to ensure hygiene and avoid mixing with standard oxygen masks that may have metallic parts. Each case includes 50 individually packaged masks, making it easy to maintain readiness for sedation or respiratory-supported MRI exams. The soft design and elastic strap also make it a dependable option for pediatric comfort during longer scans.
