MR Unsafe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does the Premium Ultrasound Probe Rack do, and why is it useful in an ultrasound room?

The rack keeps ultrasound probes upright, separated, and protected so they’re not lying on counters or tangled during busy workflows. Having a dedicated place for each probe helps prevent cable strain, speeds up exam setup, and keeps the room organized between patients.

2. Can this probe rack be used inside an ultrasound storage cabinet?

Yes. The Premium Ultrasound Probe Rack is designed to fit inside the US-100 Ultrasound Probe Cabinet, giving you a combined storage setup that keeps probes both protected and easy to access. Many facilities pair the two to improve workflow and keep their probe-cleaning routines consistent.

3. Is this probe rack suitable for MRI rooms or MRI zones?

No. This rack is not intended for MRI environments. If you need equipment that can be used safely near MRI systems, you’ll want to browse options specifically designed for MRI suites.

4. What types of probes can the rack hold?

The design supports most general, OB/GYN, vascular, cardiac, and MSK probes from major manufacturers. The open, universal slots allow for a secure fit while keeping enough airflow around the probes after cleaning.

5. How does the rack support cleaning and infection control?

The rack positions probes so they can air-dry properly after disinfection, reducing contact with surfaces and helping prevent cross-contamination. The materials can be wiped down with standard ultrasound-safe disinfectants used in clinical settings.
