MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are these mop heads safe to use in MRI environments?

Yes. These Replacement Mop Heads are made entirely from non-magnetic, non-metallic materials, making them safe for use in MRI suites and surrounding zones. When paired with the MRI Safe Mop Handle, they help maintain strict cleaning and infection control standards without introducing any ferromagnetic hazards.

2. What materials are used in the mop heads?

Each mop head is crafted from high-quality, 4-ply cotton that provides excellent absorbency and strength. The cotton fibers handle frequent use and resist fraying, making them ideal for healthcare and imaging facility cleaning where reliable performance and durability are essential.

3. Which mop handles are these compatible with?

These mop heads are designed to fit the MRI Med Mop Handle (JS-112) and are also compatible with most standard narrow headband mop handles used in clinical or janitorial settings. The saddle-type wet mop design ensures a secure fit during cleaning and easy replacement when needed.

4. How should these mop heads be cleaned and cared for?

To extend their lifespan, machine laundering is not recommended. Instead, rinse thoroughly after each use with warm water and mild detergent, then air dry completely before storage. Regular cleaning keeps the cotton fibers absorbent and helps maintain hygiene standards in MRI environments.

5. How are the mop heads packaged, and what’s included?

Each set includes six 16-ounce mop heads, providing ample replacements for daily or shift-based cleaning rotations. The multi-pack format supports ongoing use in high-traffic MRI and medical suites, ensuring facilities always have clean, non-magnetic mop heads available when needed.
