MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will this replacement MRI stretcher pad fit the specific stretcher models we use in our MRI suite?

This pad is sized to fit most full-length MRI stretchers, including the MRIMed TR-103, TR-148, and NF-106. Facilities like it because the dimensions (77" × 23" × 3") match what many departments consider their “standard MRI transport footprint,” so you aren’t fighting with overhangs or gaps. The two-piece design also works well on stretchers with Fowler or adjustable back sections, which helps maintain smooth positioning for patients who can’t lie fully flat. If you're trying to standardize pads across multiple rooms or match older units, this sizing works reliably without customization.

2. What makes this pad suitable for daily MRI workflow and cleaning requirements?

The pad uses a non-porous, medical-grade surface that handles the constant wipe-downs that come with high-volume MRI schedules. Teams appreciate that it stands up to common disinfectants without cracking or peeling, which keeps it safe, smooth, and easy to sanitize between patients. It also holds its shape over time — especially important for heavier patients, long scan times, and sedation cases where comfort helps with stillness and scan quality. For many MRI departments, durability is the main reason they replace pads with this model instead of generic stretcher pads.

3. How does the non-slip fastening system help during patient transfers and positioning in the MRI room?

The Velcro fasteners keep the pad anchored to the stretcher frame so it doesn’t shift during lateral transfers, sheet pulls, or tilt adjustments. That’s especially useful when moving monitored or sedated patients into Zones III and IV, where staff want everything to stay predictable and controlled. Because the pad stays in place, techs don’t have to constantly reposition it between cases, which saves time and reduces wear. The secure attachment also helps maintain consistent patient alignment, which supports better setup and smoother imaging workflow.
