MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this 35-piece tool kit safe to use in a 3T MRI room, including Siemens MRI systems?

Yes. Every tool in this kit is made from non-magnetic titanium, so it can be used safely in MRI Zones III and IV around 1.5T and 3T scanners—including Siemens systems—without posing a projectile risk or causing interference. This makes the kit a dependable option for engineers and techs who perform maintenance directly inside high-field MRI environments.

2. Does this tool kit include all the common sizes needed for Siemens MRI maintenance and service work?

It does. The kit includes hex keys, open-end wrenches, Phillips and flat screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers, and an inspection mirror—covering the full range of fasteners and adjustments typically found on Siemens MRI systems, coils, tables, and supporting equipment. For biomeds and field service engineers, it eliminates the guesswork of mixing loose non-magnetic tools from different sets.

3. How durable are these titanium tools for daily service work in MRI environments?

Titanium is highly durable, corrosion-resistant, and built to withstand constant tightening, loosening, and equipment adjustments. The tools don’t deform easily, hold their edges well, and tolerate routine cleaning and disinfection. With the rugged carrying case, the kit stays organized and travel-ready—ideal for biomeds, in-house service teams, and contractors who work across multiple MRI rooms or facilities.
