MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if the Siemens Single Tube Adapter will fit my MRI sound system?

This adapter is designed specifically for Siemens MRI sound systems that use single-tube configurations. It connects securely to the patient audio line, maintaining a tight seal and consistent sound delivery. If your Siemens system uses an alternate or dual-tube setup, check your model’s connection type — this adapter ensures a precise fit for single-tube ports used in most current Siemens systems.

2. Can the Siemens Single Tube Adapter be used inside the MRI room?

Yes. The adapter is made from non-metallic, latex-free materials, so it can remain inside the magnet room during scans. It attaches directly to the patient tubing and helps maintain reliable sound transmission without introducing magnetic interference. Like all MRI Med components, it’s designed to function safely under standard scanning conditions when installed as intended.

3. How often should the adapter be replaced or inspected?

Most facilities inspect the adapter during routine preventive maintenance or between patient setups. Because tubing connections naturally wear over time, many imaging teams keep a few replacements on hand to avoid downtime. If you notice any loss of sound quality or loose fit at the tubing junction, replacement is recommended immediately to preserve communication clarity.
