MR Unsafe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does the Small Probe Adapter Cup do, and when would I need it?

The Small Probe Adapter Cup gives you a secure, correctly sized slot for smaller ultrasound probes that don’t sit well in standard holders. It helps keep lighter or narrower probes upright, protected, and easy to access, which is especially helpful in busy ultrasound and vascular rooms.

2. Is the adapter cup compatible with the CT-101 Premium Ultrasound Probe Rack?

Yes. The adapter cup is designed to fit directly into the CT-101 Premium Ultrasound Probe Rack, allowing you to customize the rack layout based on the mix of probes your department uses.

3. Can this adapter cup be used in MRI environments?

No. This product is not intended for MRI use. If you need probe storage or accessories suitable for MRI zones, you’ll want to choose from equipment specifically engineered for MRI suites.

4. What types of probes work best with this adapter cup?

It’s sized for smaller-format probes such as pediatric, vascular, and certain specialty transducers. The snug fit helps prevent tipping or cable strain, which can happen when smaller probes are stored in oversized holders.

5. How does the adapter cup support cleaning and infection control?

The cup is smooth, easy to wipe down, and made to work with common ultrasound-safe disinfectants. It keeps probes off counters and separated from one another, which supports good infection-control habits between patients.
