MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can SONO® Disinfectant Wipes be used to clean?

SONO® Wipes are designed for cleaning and disinfecting ultrasound probes, equipment, and other hard, non-porous surfaces commonly found in ultrasound departments. They're a convenient option for routine cleaning between patients and throughout the workday.

Are these wipes safe to use on ultrasound probes?

Yes. SONO® Wipes are formulated for use on compatible ultrasound probes and equipment. As with any disinfectant, it's a good idea to follow your probe manufacturer's cleaning and disinfection recommendations to ensure compatibility with your specific model.

Should I choose the soft pack or the canister?

That depends on how the wipes will be used. Soft packs are easy to store in exam rooms or transport between workstations, while canisters are a good choice for high-use areas where staff need quick access to wipes throughout the day.

Do SONO® Wipes leave residue on equipment after cleaning?

SONO® Wipes are designed for routine use in clinical environments and can be used as part of your regular cleaning protocol. Following the manufacturer's instructions helps ensure equipment is cleaned properly and ready for the next patient.

Are SONO® Wipes intended for high-level disinfection?

No. SONO® Wipes are intended for routine surface cleaning and disinfection of compatible equipment and work areas. When high-level disinfection is required for semi-critical ultrasound probes, use an approved high-level disinfection system that meets your facility's protocols and the probe manufacturer's recommendations.
