MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Our Standard R & F Kit features high-quality foam positioners specifically designed to enhance patient comfort during imaging procedures. By effectively reducing interface pressure between the positioning surface and bony prominences, these foam positioners help improve patient experience while minimizing the risk of pressure sores. Their ergonomic design ensures reliable stability, making them an essential accessory for secure and accurate patient positioning in CT settings. Whether used for diagnostics or therapeutic applications, this kit prioritizes patient safety and comfort without compromising performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can the Standard R & F Kit be used in MRI environments?

Yes. The Standard R & F Kit is built from non-metallic, non-conductive materials suitable for use in MRI Zones III and IV. The kit can remain in the scan room during imaging without affecting the magnetic field or image quality. As with all MRI Med positioning products, facilities should confirm the labeling to ensure it meets MR Conditional requirements for their scanner’s field strength, typically 1.5 T or 3 T.

2. What’s included in the Standard R & F Kit, and what procedures is it best for?

The kit includes eight foam positioners, such as wedges, a cervical headrest, a circular disc, and an oblique finger block—each designed to improve stability and comfort during imaging. While developed for radiographic and fluoroscopy (R&F) use, it’s also ideal for MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine. The kit helps reduce motion, maintain consistent positioning, and enhance diagnostic accuracy across imaging modalities.

3. How does this kit support patient comfort and positioning accuracy?

Each positioner is shaped to reduce pressure points and maintain a natural, stable body position. This minimizes patient movement and discomfort—critical for achieving clear, repeatable diagnostic images. The lightweight, ergonomic design makes setup fast for technologists while keeping patients comfortable throughout the scan.

5. How does the Standard R & F Kit compare to other MRI positioning kits?

The Standard R & F Kit provides a balanced mix of general and specialized supports, including wedges and headrests, making it versatile for multiple imaging types. Smaller kits focus on targeted support, while larger or specialty kits include more specific configurations. Many imaging departments choose this set as their go-to standard kit for everyday MRI and diagnostic positioning needs.
