MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Titanium Socket – 1/2" Drive

Designed specifically for use around MRI equipment and sensitive environments that require non-magnetic tools.

Key Features

  • Socket Size: Ideal for a range of fastening applications.
  • 1/2" Drive: Compatible with standard ratchets and extension bars.
  • Non-Magnetic: Specifically engineered for use with MRI products and in MRI suites, ensuring absolute safety near magnetic fields.
  • Hypoallergenic Titanium: Made from medical-grade titanium, reducing the risk of allergic reactions and making it safe for prolonged handling.

This titanium socket is the industry standard for MRI Equipment. Unlike conventional steel sockets, it is non-magnetic and will not interfere with sensitive magnetic resonance imaging technology, making it a must-have for technicians and facilities that prioritize safety and compliance. Lightweight, durable, and resistant to corrosion, this socket delivers performance that stands the test of time.

Optimize safety and efficiency with MRI products you can trust.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this titanium metric socket be used safely around MRI equipment?

Yes. This socket is made from non-magnetic titanium, so it can be used in MRI service areas where steel sockets would be unsafe. It’s commonly used for coil hardware, table components, enclosure fasteners, and bracket adjustments without creating magnetic attraction or interference.

2. Why do MRI technicians prefer titanium sockets over standard steel ones?

Titanium offers solid torque with no magnetic pull, which is essential when you’re working near the magnet or around sensitive MRI electronics. The 1/2" drive fits standard ratchets and extensions, and the metric sizing helps with the fasteners typically found on MRI system housings, mounts, and accessory frames. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, and stays reliable even with daily use.

3. How well does this titanium socket hold up to routine hospital cleaning and long-term use?

Titanium is naturally corrosion-resistant, so it stands up to the disinfectants used in MRI suites without rusting or degrading. It won’t chip or shed material, which protects adjacent equipment. For facilities that sanitize tools regularly and expect long service life, this socket provides stable, repeatable performance year after year.
