MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Key Features

  • Made from non-magnetic titanium, ensuring compatibility with all MRI products and environments.
  • Size:  drive with a socket, perfect for a range of standard applications.
  • Non-Magnetic: Safe for use in MRI suites and anywhere magnetic interference is a concern.
  • Hypoallergenic: Titanium construction reduces the risk of allergic reactions, making it suitable for sensitive settings.
  • Durable & Lightweight: Titanium provides robust strength while remaining light and easy to handle.

Using a non-magnetic, hypoallergenic socket is essential for the safety and longevity of your MRI products. Traditional tools may cause magnetic interference or corrosion, but our titanium socket is specially designed for MRI equipment maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this titanium Imperial socket be used safely near MRI equipment?

Yes. This socket is made from fully non-magnetic titanium, so it can be used for routine maintenance anywhere a ferromagnetic tool would be unsafe. Techs rely on it for table hardware, coil brackets, enclosure fasteners, and support-frame adjustments without risk of magnetic pull or interference.

2. When would a facility choose an Imperial-sized titanium socket for MRI maintenance?

Imperial sizing is common on U.S.-made MRI mounts, covers, and facility-installed hardware, so having the correct non-magnetic version helps you avoid rounding fasteners and ensures consistent torque. Paired with the matching drive size, this titanium socket gives you a lightweight, strong, and stable option for work in tight or recessed areas where precision matters.

3. How does the titanium construction hold up to repeated cleaning and long-term hospital use?

Titanium stands up well to disinfectants, moisture, and high-frequency cleaning, which is essential in MRI rooms with strict sanitation protocols. It won’t corrode or shed material, and the precision-machined Imperial sizing stays accurate through years of use—making it a reliable, low-maintenance choice for MRI service teams.
