MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I decide if a flat-top table fits our exam schedule?

Review the positions required across your routine exams. The US-292 is a practical option if your procedures do not require an independently raised backrest, lowered footrest, or drop-window access. If the same room also handles exams with the patient’s upper body elevated, compare it with our ultrasound table with adjustable Fowler before ordering.

What is the difference between the US-292 and the US-296?

The main difference is access through the tabletop. The US-292 has a continuous padded surface, while our flat-top imaging table with drop window provides an opening for imaging access. Choose based on your sonographers’ scanning approach and the access required by your protocols, rather than the product name alone.

Can this table accommodate both seated and standing scanning?

Height adjustment lets sonographers set the patient support surface to suit seated or standing work. Plan enough space for the stool, the ultrasound console, and close access to the scanning area so staff can avoid excessive reaching. The most useful setup depends on the operator and examination, so consider these working positions when arranging the room.

How should we clean the table after ultrasound gel gets on it?

Remove gel residue and clean and disinfect the upholstery according to Clinton’s care instructions and your facility’s infection-control procedures. Use products approved for the table’s surfaces, following the specified contact time and drying instructions. If your department uses a particular disinfectant, contact us before purchase to request confirmation of compatibility.

Can we use the US-292 inside an MRI scanner room?

No. The US-292 is labeled MR Unsafe and must not be brought into an MRI scanner room. Its use for ultrasound does not make it suitable for an MRI environment. If your facility needs a table for use around an MRI scanner, we can help you compare equipment with the appropriate MR safety classification.
