MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between the US-293 and the US-297?

Consider how your sonographers need to access the patient during scanning. The US-293 provides an upholstered surface without a drop window, while our US-297 imaging table includes an opening for imaging access. If your protocols require access through the tabletop, choose a drop-window model rather than relying on repositioning alone.

Can the leg section be lowered separately from the backrest?

The US-293 does not have a separate adjustable footrest. Raising the Fowler back changes upper-body positioning, while the lower section remains part of the main support surface. If your procedures require independent leg-section adjustment or stirrups, compare this model with our multi-use ultrasound table with stirrups.

How can adjustable height help the sonographer during an exam?

Adjustable height allows staff to bring the patient closer to a comfortable working level for seated or standing scanning. The best setting depends on the sonographer’s height, stool position, scanning approach, and ultrasound system placement. Plan the room so staff can work close to the patient without excessive reaching; table adjustment is only part of that setup.

Is the Fowler backrest operated by the hand control?

The Fowler backrest is adjusted manually with pneumatic assistance, separately from the powered positioning controls. Staff should become familiar with both adjustment methods before using the table for patient examinations. If your department needs an electrically operated backrest, contact us before ordering so we can help you compare suitable configurations.

Can this ultrasound table be used in an MRI scanner room?

No. The US-293 is labeled MR Unsafe and must not be brought into an MRI scanner room. Ultrasound equipment and examination furniture still need an appropriate MR safety classification if they will be used in an MRI environment. Let us know where the table will be used so we can help you select equipment suited to that setting.
