MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose between the US-297 and the US-298?

The main consideration is independent leg positioning. The US-297 has a two-piece top without a separate adjustable footrest, while the US-298 three-section imaging table includes a manual footrest. If your exams require the leg section to lower separately from the rest of the tabletop, the US-298 provides that additional adjustment.

Is raising the Fowler back the same as tilting the table?

No. Raising the Fowler back changes the angle of the patient’s upper-body support, while Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg tilt the tabletop as a whole. These adjustments serve different positioning needs and are not interchangeable. Choose the position required by your examination protocol and follow Clinton’s operating instructions for each control.

Will the drop window work for scanning from either side?

Do not assume that the opening provides equivalent access from both sides of the table. Its location relative to the patient, sonographer, and ultrasound system affects how it can be used during an exam. Before ordering, confirm the window’s placement against your scanning approach, especially if staff routinely work from a particular side.

Can this table be used for MRI examinations?

No. The US-297 is labeled MR Unsafe and must not be brought into an MRI scanner room. Its imaging designation does not establish MRI compatibility, and the drop window does not change that classification. If your department needs equipment for use around an MRI scanner, we can help you review products with the appropriate MR safety designation.

Which table should I choose if our exams require stirrups?

If your procedures require stirrups, we recommend comparing the US-297 with our multi-use imaging table with stirrups and a drop window. That model combines both features for departments performing imaging and examinations that need supported leg positioning. Selecting a table equipped for your procedures from the start avoids relying on later modifications.
