MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should we choose the US-294 instead of the US-293?

Choose the US-294 if your exams require the footrest to lower independently from the main patient support surface. The US-293 provides upper-body adjustment but does not have a separate adjustable leg section. Review the positions used throughout your exam schedule; if backrest adjustment alone meets your needs, the two-section model may be sufficient.

Does the adjustable footrest provide the same support as stirrups?

No. The footrest supports the lower legs as a table section, while stirrups provide separate foot support for examination positioning. If your procedures require stirrups, compare the US-294 with our multi-use ultrasound table with stirrups. Selecting the appropriate configuration from the start helps your department accommodate those exams without later modifications.

Are the backrest and footrest adjusted with the hand control?

No. The backrest uses manual adjustment with pneumatic assistance, and the footrest is adjusted manually. These operate separately from the powered height and table-tilt functions. Staff should become familiar with each control and follow Clinton’s operating instructions before positioning patients.

Which model should we consider if we need drop-window access?

If your scanning approach requires access through the tabletop, compare the US-294 with our three-section imaging table with drop window. That model combines separate backrest and footrest adjustment with an imaging opening. Confirm the window’s location against your scanning side and patient positions before selecting it.

Can this table be used in an MRI scanner room?

No. The US-294 is labeled MR Unsafe and must not be brought into an MRI scanner room. Its suitability for ultrasound and other imaging applications does not establish MRI compatibility. If your department needs a table for an MRI environment, contact us so we can help you compare equipment with the appropriate MR safety classification.
